The brief for the master bedroom was to refresh the space with new wallpaper, curtains, soft furnishings, end of bed bench and feature pendant light. Direction was to keep it light and airy as this room had a double height ceiling with additional light coming in from the roof window.
The request for the guest bedroom was to utilise the “And So To Bed” bed from the master bedroom. This unique bed was the starting point for the colour scheme. Items required were new bedside tables, lighting, window treatments and an occasional chair.
The direction became clear when presenting ideas for the style of the space. We decided to go for this paper from Colefax and Fowler with a light background and vivid green stylised gingko leaves. The shape of the leaves was echoed in the shape of the headboard from Andrew Martin and highlighted by using a contrast colour piping. The same green was picked up on the leading edges of the handmade pinch pleat curtains, made by The Boys Who Sew. The pendant light from Hector Finch (just seen) was selected to fill the space with glass globes that could be hung at different heights. The footstool from Robert Langford was upholstered in a Manuel Canovas velvet jacquard. The room felt cohesive with the existing bedside tables and lights that the client wanted to keep.
For the guest bedroom, the soft green on the silk headboard was a tricky colour to match, so this project involved many samples of paint and wallpaper. The grass cloth paper from Stereo was just the right shade. We decided to keep the doors to the wardrobes and paint them in a colour from Edward Bulmer. The bedside tables added a lovely splash of raspberry to the room, the carved wave detail at the top complemented the shape of the headboard. The curtain fabric from Manuel Canovas was just the right shade of raspberry, made by hand with a ruffle style heading.
